The public stigma against the class means you might also be gatekept more than others unless you either substantially overgear the content or can find a group of friends to run with.ĭeathblade on the other hand is somewhat cheaper to gear, and literally shits out damage in comparison, while still somehow being both simple to learn and fun to actually try to master. Shadowhunter is the better pick for someone that is newer to the game. Deathblade meta has certain mechanics (such as back attacks) that, if you mess them up, can ruin your DPS. Reaper is flashy as hell but truly does suffer from underwhelming damage like everyone says, on top of requiring constant situational awareness with your abilities to make sure you don't go flying into attacks with the high amount of mobility you get from your skills and the backflip from activating your identity gauge. Shadowhunter is easier to play though for the same results and its more forgiving if you make mistakes. Containing an Attempt to Recover and Reconstitute the Lost Origines of the. If the class is fun for you though, then by all means, invest into it.Īs someone that was rolling both until recently, Deathblade, full stop, especially as a returning player. Reapers get massively gatekept in most raids as well.Īs much as I like playing my Reaper, I would personally recommend DB over her. Tripods - Lv 4 - Protective Barrier (gives. We use this skill for a couple levels until we pick up Wave of Light which is OpieOP. Unfortunately its not nearly as good in Lost Ark. If I leveled this up to 7 I would take Sieve for +2. Both are about equal in terms of stagger and destruction, though DB has the edge in stagger. Tripods: Lv 4 - Cracked Blade - +50 damage to normal mobs. RE costs a bit less and Hunger is the cheapest to build.įor utility, DB has an ATK/MS party buff as well as a very desirable party synergy buff for back attackers. In terms of cost, Surge and Lunar accessories are pretty equally expensive. Dark Axel and spin cutter are great tools, especially as RE with the move speed buff and constant cooldown resets. If you enjoy doing damage or getting MVPS it’s definitely DB, don’t let anyone tell you that Reaper does high damage, because she doesn’t.įor mobility, DB is no slouch compared to reaper. In terms of damage, it’s no contest, DB hits harder. I would probably recommend DB over reaper. Long answer: I have a 1472 RE DB and a 1510 Lunar Reaper. But I'm tired of the discourse claiming that Reaper is just a bad class. There are plenty of other classes that are extremely simple and easy to do good damage with. I don't think it's wrong for a game to have a class that rewards the people who put in the most time to learn the class. Stagger (1-5): Dictates the stagger level of a. Bonus damage can be increased by up to +25 via engraving. Back Attack: When attacking the enemy from behind while using a skill that has Back Attack, the skill inflicts 5 bonus damage and has a 10 increased chance to crit. If a GS and a Reaper were playing their classes to their fullest potential, aka "playing like a demon", the Reaper would easily win. Skills have attributes in Lost Ark that often reflect on how to use them. You have to play smart on those classes to reach it, but on Reaper it feels like you're playing on hard mode. For example, it's way easier to get maximum uptime on GS, SS, even DB. I say "playing like a demon" because you need to put in more effort to achieve the same uptime as other classes. A really good reaper will outdps most classes, besides the OP classes like summoner, arcana, sorc and some of the other entropy classes. I'm talking about playing the class to the highest potential. the ceiling is higher for reaper than plenty of other classes. Reaper I felt like every button I pressed was impactful and meaningful, whereas Blade it felt like a lot of my basic abilities were just filler in between casting my 1 big AoE nuke. That's just not true. It was pretty close between the two, but I felt like Reaper had a better mix of basic abilities. If I had one complaint, it's that way too much of your damage is tied up into a single ability, so if you whiff it, you feel kinda useless for the next 20 seconds, but some of that is also probably just that I was pretty inexperienced at the class.įWIW, of the three assassin subclasses, I honestly liked Reaper the most, but blade was really cool also. I really liked Blade, I feel like it does a great job of fulfilling the assassin fantasy in a way that shadowhunter doesn't. It felt much more like a mid-range spell caster, with lots of CC. I didn't feel like shadowhunter really felt like an assassin honestly. I played both a bit past 50 in RU, and for what it's worth, I liked Blade a lot more.
